In 2005, Karin said good bye to her middle school art students in Colorado, loaded her life into her car and drove to Savannah, Georgia to pursue an MFA in Fibers at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Even as a student she continued her work as a teacher, leading workshops at area elementary schools and senior citizen centers through the Jepson Center for the Arts, teaching at the City of Savannah’s summer art camp, and serving as visiting artist at a local high school.
Always a maker, Karin learned to stitch as a young girl. She also learned to read maps at an early age, hiking with her dad and traveling with her family on endless road trips. Now she combines the two long-time interests by stitching roads and trails, making maps of new and old places.
She loves living in Savannah, with its beautiful live oaks and spanish moss, but left her heart out West where the sky is big and land stretches far to meet it.
You are a wonderful artist!!!! Very creative, talented, smart, beautiful inside and out! Love, love, love your work.
