"But more than that, when I can find where I am, then I orient myself to the world around me."

I absolutely love love LOVE this statement. right now this weighs heavily on me. Thanks Karin!

I like whats happening with piecing these. Are these to be samples, explorations of sorts? are you going to finish them to a point of a "finished piece"
that machine stitching over the green section in the 4th picture down is my favorite spot.

What great computer quilts!!! That is such a smart idea :o) I have been wanting to make one for my mac... and seeing yours snuggled in a cozy pocket just makes me want to make one even more. I love the bright colors of your bag. Yellow always makes me happy! I have the same yellow fabric with black/white spots on it that you used for the pocket! It reminded me of a bee!

karin,
i just love your computer bags. I'm sure the quilting makes them super durable and protective. I wish I could sew as well as you. I'm sure it only took you a short time to make these, where it would take me all day. You'll have to send me the pattern for the bag you made too because its the perfect bag to just throw over your shoulder. Every bag always needs a pocket on the front...and this fabric is super cool.

oooh, wood putty. That's neat. What cool materials you're using!
Your alternative fillings/materials really make me want to pick up the quilts. I bet they would be great learning tools for kids exploring touch/weight/texture....

The top quilt is filled with plastic in the center and lentils in the outside pockets. The second one is kozo paper filled with cotton batting.

And photo 7 is wood putty that I mixed with a little water. Now that I look at it, it does really look like hummus.
